SSG Pools Announces Colin’s Hope Partnership

SSG Pools Announces Colin’s Hope Partnership

Swimming pools are a lot of things. They are the ultimate place for rest and relaxation. Pools serve as outstanding outlets for exercise. Pools are even great for entertaining house guests. With all of this excitement, it is important to keep water safety in mind, especially with children. Any body of water, from a bathtub to the ocean, warrants safety considerations. By understanding some basic tips, you can ensure that you, your family, and your guests are safer.

A Partnership for Keeping New England Safer

To offer our customers some expert reminders, SSG is proud to announce a partnership with Colin’s Hope, a local non-profit organization, that promotes water safety and drowning prevention. Their team has studied and created a short list of water safety tips. Following these tips will help you be safer around your pool this Summer. After all, the best way to escape the heat is a dip in the pool.

  • #1: Create a set of rules for your pool and communicate them to your family
  • #2: Assign an adult to be the on-duty, fully-focused “water guardian” at all times
  • #3: Learn to swim by enrolling yourself and family members in swim lessons
  • #4: Ensure multiple barriers to your water surfaces
  • #5: Learn CPR and refresh your skills annually
  • #6: Understand water safety best practices (via Colin’s Hope Safety Quiz)
  • #7: If a child goes missing, first check the inside and outside water sources at your home

It is important to remember, drowning is preventable. “Often looked past when talking about swimming pool safety, a properly built to code and maintained swimming pool with everything in working order is a significantly safer swimming pool,” says SSG Pools Vice President, Mason Guarino.

Cloudy water can arise from improper maintenance and affect a pool’s owner ability to complete Tip #7 in an emergency. “Ensuring that the filter is cleaned regularly and being sure to monitor water chemistry will help keep the water very clear,” Guarino added.

How to Prepare for a Safer Future

Are you opening your pool and taking a dip soon? If so, there are two quick things that you can do to be safer.

The first? Perform a routine inspection.

“Making sure all components are secure and in working order such as drain covers, railings, slides, diving boards and wall fittings will eliminate the chance for something unexpected happening,” suggests Guarino.

The second? An online refresher course in water safety. SSG is challenging YOU to learn more about water safety and become a certified “Water Guardian” by taking the Colin’s Hope Water Safety Quiz . When completed, enter #SSG in the comments box at the end of the quiz. One random SSG-related certificate will be chosen to win a gift package including an SSG tee shirt, beverage holder and custom towel.

Colin’s Hope has researched and produced a library of safety tips for much more than just swimming pools. Their website teaches people how to be safer at the beach, in the bathtub, and many other places that folks encounter water surfaces.

“They build a gorgeous pool. The finished product is exactly what I wanted. I came very close to working with another vendor as I did not think I could afford a quality Gunite pool. I quickly made the switch as SSG worked with me to customize a pool within my price range. Best decision I made and best pool ever! I am very happy with my decision”

“These folks did a great job building and finishing our pool. We also needed them to move the equipment after adding an outbuilding, which they did on time and on budget and without complaining!
